Standing Together,
Growing Stronger
Toward our permanent Nepali home in Greater Sydney.
We open this month's newsletter with heavy hearts following the catastrophic flooding along the Trishuli River corridor in Nepal. We mourn the precious lives lost, grieve for the livelihoods destroyed, and extend our deepest condolences and prayers to all those affected. Standing united with our motherland, let us offer our support in every way possible to provide urgent relief and help the affected communities recover.
On behalf of the Greater Sydney Nepalese Multicultural Centre (GSNMC) family, we extend a warm welcome to all our new members. We also express our deepest gratitude to our Life Members, donors, sponsors, team members, volunteers, and broader community leaders who recognise the vital need for a dedicated Nepalese Multicultural Centre in Greater Sydney β a place where we can celebrate our heritage under one roof.
A Heartfelt Welcome to Our Newest GSNMC Life Members!
Throughout August, our team worked tirelessly to advance our Life Membership drive β and for good reason. Life Membership is one of the most vital foundations sustaining the GSNMC project and driving our shared vision towards reality. Thanks to this dedicated effort, we are delighted to celebrate and welcome the 36 newest members who joined our GSNMC family this past month!
We truly believe that the proposed Nepalese Multicultural Centre in Greater Sydney will help bridge the gap for our younger generations by strengthening their understanding of their heritage and fostering stronger bonds of community and connection across Greater Sydney and Australia.
Thanks to the incredible support of the wider Sydney Nepali community, we have successfully raised approximately $1.2 million AUD. This monumental achievement has been made possible through:

Our Vision
The Greater Sydney Nepalese Multicultural Centre is envisioned as a shared socio-cultural hub for the diverse Nepali community in Sydney and beyond. We see a future where Nepali traditions blend seamlessly with Australian values, fostering a harmonious, vibrant, and united community.
We are committed to preserving the Nepali language, culture, and heritage while contributing meaningfully to Australia's multicultural tapestry. Through this initiative, future generations will inherit a proud and lasting legacy.
The proposed Centre will feature a βMini-Nepalβ model, thoughtfully designed with state-of-the-art facilities to accommodate our diverse religious practices, cultural traditions, and rich history.
Project Progress Update
In addition to the $1.2M+ AUD raised through Life Memberships (including due instalment payments) as of the end of August 2026, we secured approximately $2 million AUD in pledges and commitments during the Sydney Spiritual Festival held at Burwood Park.
The Next Target: To secure a suitably sized parcel of land for GSNMC, we require a minimum of $4 million AUD in liquid funds. To achieve this, our Life Membership drive needs to gain significant momentum in the days ahead.
Land Search & Government Advocacy
Our Land Research Committee is working diligently to shortlist suitable parcels of land across the north-western and south-western outskirts of Greater Sydney. Concurrently, our executive team is holding ongoing consultative meetings with local councils, government stakeholders, and political leaders to seek institutional support.
Most recently, a pre-Development Application (pre-DA) meeting was organised with Penrith and Campbelltown Councils to progress our site selection process.

Fundraising Campaign Continued
Throughout the past month, our team actively participated in local events to raise awareness, secure vital funds, and accelerate the GSNMC Life Membership drive.
Taking our mission to the grassroots through direct engagement with local Nepali leaders and organisations remains one of our most powerful strategies. By partnering with these trusted groups, we are uniting our wider community and taking the GSNMC project to new heights.
GSNMC is proud to join the Nepalese Australian Association's (NAA) 50th anniversary celebrations on 27β28 November, marking half a century of our community's settlement and service in Australia. Alongside the festivities, GSNMC will host a dedicated fundraising drive β a fitting way to honour our community's past while investing in its future home. More details will follow soon.

A Special Request to Our Members
We humbly request each of our current Life Members to encourage at least one family member or friend from their close network to join the GSNMC family as a Life Member. This is a realistic and achievable target that could significantly increase our membership and bring us closer to our land-acquisition goal.
