Why are we organising the Sydney Spiritual Festival 2025?

हामी सिड्नी आध्यात्मिक महोत्सव किन गर्दैछौ?

Community Growth

The Nepali community in multicultural Australia is known as a relatively new, dynamic and dignified community. Although the settlement of Nepalese diaspora in Australia first began in the seventies, the number of Nepalese started increasing significantly since the nineties. The Nepali community is largely concentrated around the Greater Sydney in New South Wales. Most of the Nepalese who primarily came for studies have now settled permanently and many of them have also succeeded in establishing themselves in various professional fields. With the growth of the Nepali community, Nepalese in Australia have also been able to make significant contributions to Australian economy and society.

Future Generations

Along with the growth in the Nepali community, the number of our second generation has also increased significantly, and this number will rapidly increase in the coming days. We are well-informed about the need of a common platform that unites our larger Nepali community and protect, promote, and pass on our ancient religion, diverse culture, and multicultural traditions to future generations. Recognizing the inevitability of this need, the Greater Sydney Nepali Multicultural Center (GSNMC), a non-profit organization, was established in July 2024 following an amalgamation of Sydney Nepalese Community Center (SNMC). This initiation of GSNMC should be exclusively supported by all Nepalese organizations and communities in Australia.

Building Our Multicultural Center

GSNMC is a common institutional platform for all Nepalese diaspora residing in NSW, Australia. The first and foremost objective of this organization is to work towards the construction of the proposed multicultural center as soon as possible with the participation of all Nepalese living in the greater Sydney area. It is believed that this proposed Nepali Multicultural Center will also be an important part of the community heritage that the first generation of Nepalese living in Australia today will pass on to future generations. To build a multi-dimensional and multi-purpose multicultural center, we are aware that the active participation and ownership of all Australian Nepalese, and especially those living in Greater Sydney, is essential in this grand project campaign.

Fundraising Focus

While we have been working in setting up the necessary policies and programs for the construction of the Nepali Multicultural Center, we have now focused on fundraising activities as a main priority for the purchase of land and the construction of initial physical infrastructure. The participation and ownership of the wider Nepali community is particularly important in effective financial integration for fulfilling the main objective.
