Sydney, NSW – May 2025 – The Greater Sydney Nepali Multicultural Centre (GSNMC) is proud to announce the Sydney Spiritual Festival 2025, a three-day cultural and spiritual celebration set to take place from August 29 to 31 in Burwood, Sydney. The event is a landmark initiative by the Nepali community to promote unity, spirituality, and the ongoing development of the proposed Nepali Multicultural Centre.

The festival comes at a pivotal time for the rapidly growing and dynamic Nepali-Australian community. Although the migration of Nepalese people to Australia began in the 1970s, the community has flourished significantly since the 1990s, particularly in Greater Sydney. Once students, many Nepalese have now become permanent residents, contributing meaningfully to Australian society in various professional fields.

With the rise in second-generation Nepalese Australians, the need for a common cultural platform has become more urgent. GSNMC, established in July 2024 through the amalgamation of Sydney Nepalese Community Center (SNMC), is working to fulfill that need by developing a dedicated multicultural centre that will serve as a lasting heritage site for future generations.

The Sydney Spiritual Festival 2025 will serve as both a spiritual gathering and a major fundraising campaign to support the purchase of land and construction of the community centre. The event will feature:

  • Kalash Yatra (Holy Pot Procession) on the first day with over 1,008 participants
  • Morning and Evening Puja & Aarti (prayer rituals)
  • Katha Waachan (scripture discourses)
  • Bhajan-Kirtan (devotional singing)

The festival will be graced by the chief hospitality of the esteemed spiritual orator Pandit Deenbandhu Pokhrel.

GSNMC calls on all community organizations, business owners, and individuals to join hands in making the event a grand success and to contribute financially and morally to the vision of building a spiritual and cultural hub for Nepalese Australians.

This is more than a festival; it is a movement to preserve our identity, values, and spiritual roots while building a legacy for future generations.
